Become A Soccer Referee
Each winter the Markham Soccer Club (MSC) provides a training program that includes preparation classes and the Ontario Soccer Association referee certification course. All referees who officiate in MSC games must have successfully completed both components. There are two referee categories (with separate training programs):
Mini Soccer Referee for those 12 or 13 years old as of March 31, 2012. 
The Preparation classes will begin on Friday February 24th, 2012 and run March 8, 22 & 28 from 6:45PM -7:45pm. All classes will be held at the "Pool Training Room"in the Centennial Community Centre. Referees should plan to attend all sessions.
The two separate Mini Referee certification courses will take place on Sunday April 1st or Sunday April 15, 2012. Referees attend only one certification course date and can pick the date that best fits their schedule. The certification course is held at the Mt. Joy facility from 9 am to 3 pm. The cost for registration is $30.00 per Referee. The club will reimburse this cost in the Fall 2012 if the referee officiates a minimum of 8 games for the Markham Soccer Club in 2012.
Referees must register online, which at the same time will create a Referee profile which will be used to assign games if they pass the course. Once in the online system please be sure to check off the "official box." Please note that Markham Resident applicants will be given priority for registration for the course.
Entry Level Referee for those 14 years and older as of March 31, 2012. The Preparation classes will begin on Friday February 24th, 2012 and run March 8, 22, 28, April 4 and April 11th 2012, from 8-9pm. All classes will be held in the "Pool Training Room" located in the Centennial Community Centre. Referees should plan to attend all classes.
The Entry Level Referee certification course will take place on April 21 and 22, 2012. Referees must attend both days. The certification course is held at the Mt. Joy facility from 8:30 am to 5 pm. The cost for registration is $60.00 per Referee. The club will reimburse this cost in the Fall 2012 if the referee officiates a minimum of 6 games for the Markham Soccer Club in 2012.
